 15th August 1939 – 30th January 2022

Today we heard of the very sad news of the death of our dear friend and musical colleague, Norma Waterson, who died in hospital on Sunday 30th January having suffered  from pneumonia followed by a seizure.

Norma has been a part of the lives of many of us for many years and  the inspiration that encouraged a large number of us to love folk music and become involved in it.

Born in Hull in 1939 , and the sister to Lal and Mike, between them they helped to bring folk music back to the fore during the 1960’s when they formed The Watersons with John Harrison, their cousin.

Since then, Norma has never been out of our minds and her unique voice is something that will always be in our minds and souls.

She was a wonderful person, kind, generous and unassuming, and we all feel a massive loss at her parting.

We send our heart-felt condolences to Martin and Eliza and we will be there in spirit to support them at this sad hour.

God Bless you Norma – RIP.
