Hayde is a dynamic Norwegian ensemble redefining what bluegrass can be. Blending American roots traditions with Nordic and global influences — a sound often dubbed “Nordicana” — the seven-piece band layers fiddle, banjo, dobro, mandolin, guitar, upright bass, and even accordion beneath soaring four-part harmonies, creating a rich, expansive sound marked by driving rhythms and inventive arrangements. Their acclaimed debut album Migrants entered Billboard’s Bluegrass Albums chart at #4 — an extraordinary feat for an emerging European group — and established Hayde as a rising force on the international roots scene. With virtuoso musicianship and a fearless approach to tradition, they deliver performances that are both exhilarating and deeply expressive — proof that bluegrass continues to evolve in exciting, global ways.

The band’s story reads like a modern fairy tale. Just a couple of weeks after forming, Hayde recorded the old traditional “Wayfaring Stranger” in fiddler Moa Meinich’s Oslo apartment. To their amazement, the video took off getting millions of views. That single living-room recording became the foundation of a YouTube channel that today holds hundreds of live recordings and over 65,000 subscribers, giving Hayde a devoted international audience that resulted in sold out houses on their US tours.

The accolades have followed. Migrants (2021) was nominated for the Norwegian Grammy (Spellemannprisen) and spent 11 consecutive weeks on the Billboard chart, with Norwegian daily Dagsavisen declaring it “so solid it’s almost unbelievable.” At the IBMA Momentum Awards, lead vocalist Rebekka Nilsson was named 2022 Vocalist of the Year, while the band earned back-to-back Band of the Year nominations in 2022 and 2023.

Now Hayde is rising on the music scene in the United States — the first band to break through in America with Nordicana, bringing the music home to the birthplace of bluegrass. Recent seasons have brought extensive US touring and major stages, including 3 packed shows at Merlefest for more than 5500 people. With booking agents in place in Norway, the EU, and the US, the calendar is filling fast!
