Colin Hall – PRE:FAB! The Film

Colin Hall is the World’s greatest authority on The Beatles and the times before their formation.

For 20 years – 2004 -2023 – Colin was the custodian of John’s childhood home, ‘Mendips’, which is owned by the National Trust and overseen by John’s widow, Yoko Ono Lennon. For ten of those years, Colin even lived in the back bedroom at ‘Mendips’, which had previously been an upstairs room once occupied by students John’s Aunt Mim once cared for.

The connection with John’s house has given Colin the chance to spend time there talking with Yoko Ono who generously donated the house to the Trust, to share a cup of tea with James Taylor on the back lawn, to host Debbie Harry and Clem Burke from Blondie, to not only Jackson Browne and his band on several occasions but to take them on ‘Beatles tours’ of Liverpool. Other memorable visitors have been Bonnie Raitt, Little Steven, Billy J. Kramer, Paul Brady, Mark Hamill and many others.

The last Beatles story to be told about how it all began… Before the Fab Four, there was PRE FAB! –the story of one man, his drums and the biggest band the world would ever know!

PRE FAB! chronicles the rise of “Skiffle” music and its impact on Post World War II British youth. It traces the influence of American Rock ‘n’ Roll and how, in 1956, a boy named John Lennon rounded up a host of friends, including Paul McCartney and George Harrison, to form a group called The Quarry Men.

Simply put, without The Quarrymen, there would be no Beatles!   From the biggest Beatle Fan to someone that loves a great story, PRE FAB! ticks all the boxes!

Rare footage, photos and first-hand account interviews from the people that were there including Paul McCartney, Colin Hanton and the original members of The Quarrymen!

Awards and accolades for the film have already been coming in from the UK, across the water in the  USA and in Europe before even its official release.

It is a film just waiting to be seen by all those from the era of the Beatles to those who only know of them through their history. Their story will never be forgotten and this film gives an insight into how this great band started out by teenagers with a passion for playing music.

As Colin Hall (co-author of the book by the same name and associated with the production of the film) said “Beatles fans can’t get enough – especially of stuff they have not seen or heard before”.
