Alistair Anderson is internationally acknowledged as the master of the English
Concertina and a fine exponent of the Northumbrian Pipes. He is joined by three of
the finest musicians of the younger generation.
Sarah Hayes is one of the most sparklingly gifted singers and musicians in the country, well known as a multi-instrumentalist with Glaswegian anthemists
Admiral Fallow and, the more traditional line-up,Wildings. Her new CD Woven, featuring her skills as flautist, singer and composer, was described by The Scotsman as “ambitiously conceived and beautifully realised”.
Ian Stephenson has been in great demand as a guitarist in numerous bands including The KathrynTickell Band, Kan, Baltic Crossing, 422 and The Andy May Trio. His considerable knowledge of instruments and musical genres shines through in his wonderful arrangements especially in some of the songs featured by Northlands.
Sophy Ball, one of today’s most dynamic fiddlers, first came to national prominence
in the band 422 which won the BBC Young Folk Award. She is also part of The Bottle Bank Band, The Andy May Trio and played an integral role in Alistair’s last two CDs.
