“Some might say they just don’t make ’em like they used to. But with Desert Dove, Michaela Anne did.” – No Depression
“Captivating vocals… stunning” – Billboard
Michaela Anne spent her formative years moving across the globe as the child of a US Navy Submarine Captain. While no place felt quite like a hometown, for her, the word “home” became synonymous with family, fast friends, and her songwriting- a creative inner world where she could live, no matter where she lay her head. The single “Child of the Wind” from her latest album, Desert Dove, shines a light on the nature of a transient childhood: “Before I go I’ll tell you something ‘bout this heart of mine My hometown was a back seat looking out at highway signs”…
Since its release in September 2019, Desert Dove (Yep Roc) has received national praise from outlets, including: Billboard, Rolling Stone Country, NPR, Paste Magazine, Brooklyn Vegan, Albumism, Associated Press and many more. The fall of 2019 saw Michaela’s debut on Mountain Stage while Philadelphia’s WXPN named her their Artist of the Month. Desert Dove also appeared on end of year lists including Albumism’s top 50 best albums as well as both Stereogum and Rolling Stone Country’s top 10 best Country & Americana albums.
“Anne isn’t afraid to embrace cinematic strings over classic country instrumentation, but keeps her glassy quiver and introspective lyrical approach at the core of Desert Dove.” – Rolling Stone Country
